The Shitty Limits - Here Are The Limits

my, my, my. I was absolutely smitten with this band, after seeing them live. around that time, I was wildly into The Dead Kennedys and early The Hives, because of that up-tempo garage/surf rock sound. this band -especially live- displays everything that I love about that certain indefinite guitar sound that I vaguely described, just now. the mangled and pourly articulated vocals sound like the singer is extremy drunk or trying to outshine David Yow in garbling his speech. acting like a fit Iggy Pop on stage adds to this all the more. so all in all a most brilliant hotchpotch of elements combined in one band.

Some Mistakes - Glamorous Thoughts

listen to You Have Killed The Boy by Some Mistakes

American  hardcore band Some Mistakes (myspace) plays some of the most desperatele and tormented punk music out there. after hearing this,  you know there is no light at the end of the tunnel, no matter what anyone else says. And as much as feeling like that sucks, I keep repeating this entire record all over to stumble my way through.

Vogue - Pompshit

listen to Innerlijk Hinderlijk Kinderlijk by Vogue

Belgian band Vogue (blog) delivers swampy and raunchy hardcore punk with a very sloppy rock’n roll vibe. Extremely ironic lyrics about nihilistic topic,s uttered through garbling vocals. Across the board, this music feels like The Jesus Lizard playing Black Flag songs on a bad valium trip, or maybe like Pissed jeans. And I mean ALL of the above in the most positive way imaginable. This band will single handedly save music in general.

Out Of The box on sunday VI

Does anyone remember the song ‘Frontier Psychiatrist’ by The Avalanches? A song entirely driven by sampling spoken extracts from various movies and tv-shows,  merged into one sequence of strange and inconsistant quotes with a minimal undertone of electronic music (a drum, a bass and some other seemingly random sounds). This is the foundation to The Books’s (page) entire sound. I always felt like there was more tot that song I mentioned, and these guys bring it quite masterfully.
