Gentlemens Establishment by The Smackdown
In their deepest foundation, The Smackdown (myspace with unreleased songs) was like The Blood Brothers playing Das Oath or Refused playing Charles Bronson songs. Spastic as well as rapid and crushing as well as tuneful. The band sounded like powerviolence/hardcore kids just straight up rocking out and playing the recorded noisy rock’n roll they’ve improvised at 70 RPM in stead of 30 RPM. The thought of watching flesh and blood beings play this music on a live stage leaves me shivering, imagining it could quite possibly have resembled rather something out of a Francis Bacon painting than any kind of rock concert, or watching a the Hives gig in fast forward on a barely functioning tv screen. Static included. RIP. shares member(s) with Anchor.
