The Ghost Of A Thousand – This Is Where The Fight Begins

listen to Left For Dead by The Ghost Of A Thousand, as a preview to this record

The Ghost Of A Thousand (myspace) was a post-hardcore band that probably paid close attention to bands like Refused ,The Bronx or the garage punk/rock  (think early The Hives) genre, with highly energetic rock’n roll groove seeping from every song. The shouted vocals sound on the verge of breaking down and add to the raw energy pumping up any listener. You can just imagine ballroom dancing to the catchy rythms,  as well as jumping on a pile-on to scream along with the lyrics. A very innovative take that blends in with a lot of (otherwise stale) hardcore/punk variants. too hard to be just punk-rock, but too versatile to be just hardcore.

Agent Of Abhorence / Extortion split

listen to Outside by Extortion, as a preview to this split
If you know both bands, finding out they put out a split together would give you the impression how good this record actually is. Both Extortion (myspace) and Agents Of Abhorrence (myspace) are ultra fast Aussie hardcore punk bands. The first being of the more harcore variant, like the faster parts in some Ceremony songs, and the latter more of the so-fast-you-can-hardly-make-it-out slightly more  metallic style. The variation between their styles compliments eachother, resulting in best of everything-in-between-grind-and-hardcore elements with some soothing fresh ingredients in both.

Weekend Nachos - Worthless

listen to Obituary, as a preview to the record by Weekend Nachos

This has been on virtually every other blog, but here it is –once more- to exclude all chances that it might have missed your attention. American powerviolence band Weekend Nachos (myspace), crushes with the highest quality of raw and grinding noise. Effortlesly tumbling from hella fast hardcore grind into brutal slow sludge, with layer upon layer of guitar-feedback and face-melting hooks In both extremes of tempos. Across the board, every song has the feel of raw and bleak emotions oozing out, getting under your skin, scratching and clawing on its way back out, through your every cavity. This is the highest quality creative musicianship I have heard in both extremely fast and slow -basically- trashy and noisy music.

Out of the box on sunday IX

listen to Needy Girl by Chromeo as a preview

being against Pop-music for the sake of being against it, is like running for president of all people with their heads up their asses. If you can't think of anything playing on a daily bases, on whatever radio station that sucks least, you might want to reconsider if it's because you never pay attention to it or because you're too tr00 kvlt whateverthefuck. because that's usually the options one has in that scenario. while it depends of a matter of taste from one artist to another. with Chromeo (Myspace), on the other hand, I can not imagine anyone would think anything less than THE WORLD of their funky music. just a duo of one vocalist/guitarist that occasionally whips out a keytar or keyboard and a one keyboardist with a bunch of synthesizers and a talk box.
