Heathens - II

listen to Placebo by HEATHENS, from this album

Heathens is a welcome addition to dark hardcore and the words must fitting to describe them would in fact be “dark” and “hard”. Hard, dark and angry as heck, they rarely reach anything higher than mid-tempo hardcore music, but when they do they go all out with blast beats to boot, much like the ‘slower’ parts in powerviolence bands or the representative Trash Talk-type ‘angry’ hardcore sound. This band brings the bedroom mosh. The trashing kind of music that couldn’t keep you standing still, listening to it, even in private non-hardcore places.

Worms Feed - Black Snow

I'm terribly sick, so I'm just going to leave this here and tell you all you'll want to check it out, if you like Holy Terror hardcore or other modern dark/metallic hardcore.

At Least We Try - 2011 demo

Untitled II by At Least We Try

This release takes you back... Easily closer to old school metalcore than modern hardcore metal, At Least We Try (website) remind one of the days 90’s (H8000) metalcore/hardcore was a relatively fresh sound you heard for the first time and wanted to dedicate your life to. I’m talking straight up put a ring on it! The band chugs, trashes and breaks down, as if it’s something that’s never been done before. As if they are the present-day inventors of those musical structures, because this sound does more than blend in with a variety of styles of hardcore music. The demo bridges the gap between hardcore metal, melodic and dark hardcore from a fresh perspective, rather than from some grey area in between.

Out Of The Box On Sunday XXIII

Female fronted noise/punk rock band Divorce (blog) brings no cliché’s from either branch of the two major influences they incorporate in their style. Espacially the punk rock influences consist of a-typical elements, it’s only recognisable because of its subtle nuances and is therefore a welcome addition to that particular scene. Therefore the punk influences are a breath of fresh air for noisy music as well.
