Is this the first time I notice this, because I have pondered about it on numerous occasions… The breed of passionate and melodic hardcore punk bands excell in brilliant melodies with an increasing hardcore punch, but the vocals equally excell in sounding over-the-top dramatic to downright whiney. Ghostlimb (myspace) set forth the first without giving in on the second. Their signature pummeling growl in combination with wholehearted punk melodies and a hint of metallic influences to add to the brutality, and keep the endproduct in balance. Hard-hitting yet emotionally charged atmosphere that is a clash of (a broad range of) profound metal and blazing punk rawwk hooks.

Pulling Teeth – Funerary

 listen to The New Dark Age by Pulling Teeth

Too good not to share. Pulling Teeth (myspace) effortlessly blend metallic hardcore with the more melodic riffage of black metal. This record reminds me a lot of H8000 legends xLIARx. In fact, the first thing that came to mind is that this band actually did succeed in blending the aforementioned genres. 12 songs pulsing their way from your ears to your spontaneous boner in over 45 minutes. I was left in awe by the songs from their split; but would rather share this. as that split leaves you very undersaturated with only 2 songs of equal excellence (and I’m no fan of Irons).

Out Of The Box X

listen to Transpire by Marionette ID

Marionette ID (myspace) is a Hungarian post-rock band with a very tuneful indie-rock approach. With more vocals entwined in their structures than any non-instrumental postrock band, these dudes bring forth THE most amazing compromise between catchy and ambient music. Something in between haunting indie rock and melodic post-rock, both executed brilliantly, with the most crystal clear vocals in any of those genres and catchy as heck. Heck I tell ya! This band could never be anything more than underappreciated, no matter how appreciated they will ever become. I have added their first full-length and their recent 2-song EP. Somehow I favor the EP, but that might be just because I haven’t listened tot hat release 394 375 times. Yet.
